Stroller paralysis

Xan is going to be outgrowing his snap-n-go stroller soon, so we're going to have to start thinking about the next one. There are so many choices my brain is just shutting down. The main problem is that I want incompatable characteristics. On the one hand I want light and portable so it's easy to get up and down the two short sets of stairs into the apartment and can go on public transportation. On the other hand I want huge wheels a la jogging strollers for a smooth ride over the insanely bumpy Cambridge sidewalks, even when covered in ice and snow. And, oh yeah, it had to be narrow and maneuverable because the sidewalks are also totally cramped.

I think smooth ride is going to win over tiny and light. I'll just look for the lightest jogging stroller I can find. Or, yikes, maybe even get one of each?

Suggestions???

Tabblo: Family Photoshoot

Bill's sister Terri gave us a photoshoot on our recent trip to Reno and these are the results! ... See my Tabblo>

Phew!

Long day. Good, but long. I reconnected with a zillion local moms: walked to Lauren and Seth's to get tea and go to the park, where I ran into Maria and Anthony. Dropped by the ALACE office on my way to playgroup, where we saw six other sets of moms and babies we knew, then walked to meet Marissa and Tess at the Garment District for clothes shopping and dinner at Cafe Kiraz and ran into Shirley and Zoe on the way. All together, 10am-6pm, eight hours of walking and talking and playing. I'm wiped.

Heading home

We got lucky and Grace happened to be in town for a friend's bachelorette party, so we saw her today. We're taking the red eye back home tonight. It'll be just Xan and I travelling overnight on the plane, so wish us luck.

Aw, yeah. Rockin the highchair.

Attack of the 50-ft baby.

Bye, bye hair

We love you anyway, Xan, despite your little balding issue.

Standing

Here's digital video proof that he can pull himself to standing...

Sitting

Here's a quick video of him tripod sitting unsupported. He can even lift his arms off the floor for a few seconds at a time, though we didn't catch that here. Three or four days ago, while we were at my mom's he pulled himself up from standing to sitting without any lifting help, and two days ago he started very squeakily talking to himself. He's happy, but it's loud and sounds very grating, no more soft ohs and ahs.
